Official Contest Rules: Buzz Big Bracket

  1. Eligibility Restrictions:
    • Any person over 18 years of age. No purchase is necessary to participate in this contest.
    • Any resident of Wake, Johnston, Franklin, Orange, Durham, Harnett, Chatham, Lee, Moore, Hoke, Cumberland, Sampson, Duplin, Wayne, Wilson, Edgecomb, Nash, Halifax, Warren, Vance, Granville, Person, Caswell, and Alamance Counties, North Carolina may participate.
    • In the event that a contestant is found ineligible for a prize, said prize will not be awarded.
    • Any employee of McClatchey Broadcasting or family relations of McClatchey Broadcasting employees, or employees of any participating sponsor are not eligible to participate in any contest conducted by WRBZ-AM/WDNC-AM.
    • No more than one entry per person. No more than one entry per email address.
  2. How To Enter:
    • Listeners will be encouraged to visit the Buzz Big Bracket registration page (hosted by SCAinteractive, hereinafter referred to as SCAi) and register their picks in the 2008 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament ("Tournament").
    • The promotion officially begins at 9:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, March 16, 2008 following the announcement of the Tournament schedule. In the event that the teams participating in a game change once entries are being accepted, it is the contestant's responsibility to modify his/her entry accordingly. Entry submission will be cut off at 12:00 p.m. ET, Thursday, March 20, 2008, shortly before tip-off of the first game of the round of 64 of the Tournament.
    • A contestant may modify his/her entry (subject to site availability) up to entry cutoff. Only the last version of a contestant's entry as accepted on the promotion website and sealed in the secure entries file will be a valid entry.
  3. Internet:
    • SCAi is responsible for collecting all entries in the promotion and transmitting these entries to SCA. Each such entry must consist of the contestant's unique identifier (such as an email address), time and date of final entry, and the contestant's prediction for the winner of each of the 63 games of the Tournament. Predictions do not need to include the winner of the wild card game that will determine the 64th seed in the Tournament and that wild card game shall not count for purposes of determining number of correct matches.
    • WRBZ/WDNC disclaims all liability for the inability of a participant to complete or continue an entry due to equipment malfunction, busy lines, inadvertent disconnections, acts beyond the Company's control, or otherwise. WRBZ/WDNC disclaims any liability for entries not received due to technical difficulties or transmission errors. WRBZ/WDNC disclaims all liability for any delays, miss-delivery, loss, or failure in the delivery of any item sent by mail, courier, express, electronic transmission, or other delivery method. WRBZ/WDNC is not responsible for mechanical, technical, electronic, communications, telephone, computer, hardware or software errors, malfunctions or failures of any kind, including: failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed transmission of online entries, traffic congestion on telephone lines, the Internet or at any website or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit an online entrant's ability to participate in the Contest, and any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading any information necessary to participate in the Contest.
    • SCA is not responsible for lost, interrupted, or unavailable network server or other connections, miscommunications, failed telephone or computer transmissions or technical failure, jumbled, scrambled, or misdirected transmissions, or other error of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic which are beyond the control of SCA. SCA is not responsible for lost, damaged, misdirected, unreadable, or late entries.
  4. Prizes:
    • Prize Level A: If a contestant's entry, as received by SCA and compiled by SCAi, correctly predicts the winner of each and every game in the Tournament (a total of 63 correct predictions) (according to the official NCAA results), and there is compliance with the terms of WRBZ's contract with SCA, the SCA will reimburse Sponsor prize level A of $25,000.00 to the contestant. Prize Level B: If a contestant's entry, as received by SCA and compiled by SCAi, correctly predicts the winner of each and every game in the first (round of 64) and the second (round of 32) rounds of the Tournament (a total of 48 correct predictions) (according to the official NCAA results), and there is compliance with the terms of WRBZ's contract with SCA, the SCA will reimburse Sponsor prize level B of $15,000.00 to the contestant. Prize Level C: If a contestant's entry, as received by SCA and compiled by SCAi, correctly predicts the winner of each and every game in the last four rounds (round of 16, round of 8, final four and championship game) of the Tournament (a total of 15 correct predictions) (according to the official NCAA results), and also each team's final score in the championship game (according to the official NCAA results), and there is compliance with the terms of WRBZ/WDNC's contract with SCA, the SCA will reimburse Sponsor prize level C of $10,000.00 to the contestant.
    • Guaranteed prizes will be offered in addition to the above listed contingency prizes. These prizes will be awarded to the top five contestants, posted on the official standings as of 12:00 p.m. ET, March 24, 31 and April 7, 2008.
    • The sealed entries file held by SCA will be the sole determiner of the predictions making up any given entry. If there is a winning entry, WRBZ/WDNC must notify SCA Promotions within three (3) business days after the NCAA Championship Game.
    • In no instance shall SCA be liable for prize reimbursement for any entry not included among the sealed entries.
    • No entry is eligible to win more than one prize. If there are multiple verified winners in excess of the maximum aggregate liability occurrences ($50,000.00) the prize award will be evenly divided between all winners. Determination of winners, verification of eligibility, and compliance with these rules will be conducted by SCA Promotions, whose decision will be final.
  5. Winner's Responsibilities:
    • Listeners who win a prize or combination of prizes valued at $600 or more in the span of one calendar year will receive a 1099 tax form at the end of that year. This form will need to be used by the listener to claim their prize as income.
  6. Selection of Winners:
    • WRBZ-AM/WDNC-AM and all participating sponsors reserve the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value at any time.
  7. Conditions:
    • A valid social security number must be provided for any prize awarded. A government issued photo identification card must also be presented. All taxes (local, state and federal, if applicable) are the sole responsibility of the contest winner. Winners will be required to fill out an IRS Form 1099 or the equivalent. SCA Promotions will deduct taxes from the winning prize money per the law, prior to issuing a check to the claimed winner.
    • By participating in WRBZ/WDNC contests, the winner or winners agree to have their name; voice or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation and not sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of the prize.
    • Contest winners will be required to sign a liability release prior to acceptance of any prize valued at $600 or greater or which prize includes the provision of transportation, whether or not such transportation is provided by WRBZ-AM/WDNC-AM. Pursuant to the liability release, the winners will agree to hold WRBZ-AM/WDNC-AM, McClatchey Broadcasting, SCA Promotions Inc., affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and an claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or contest.
  8. Miscellaneous:
    • Any and all decisions disputed or questions pertaining to these rules should be directed to the WRBZ/WDNC General Manager. His decisions and judgments will be considered final, wherein they do not conflict with the decisions of SCA, whose decisions will be final.
    • WRBZ/WDNC reserves the right to change or modify the contest and/or rules at any time. Any and all changes will not disadvantage the contestant and will be posted.
    • Odds of winning the contest are totally random and depend on the number of entries received.
    • WRBZ/WDNC will not be responsible for failure to deliver prize package due to any acts of God.
    • All prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged or sold.
    • SCA Promotions, SCAi, WRBZ and any affiliated companies and insurers, are not responsible for any late, misdirected or incomplete entries, effects of hackers, or failure of any electronic equipment, computer transmissions and/or network connections. SCA Promotions, WRBZ/WDNC and any affiliated companies and insurers, are not responsible for any inaccuracies in information, which may be used in the Promotion, or for any technical or human error, which may occur in the processing of the entries.
    • With respect to any entry, the data stored on the computer systems of SCA Promotions is the sole determiner of all information provided by the contestant as part of such entry. In no event shall SCA be liable for indirect, special, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages, including without limitation, damages for lost profits or revenues or punitive damages, even if advised of the possibility thereof.
    • Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of this game or sweepstakes, as solely determined by the judges, will be disqualified. If disqualified for any of the above abuses, SCA reserves the right to terminate a contestant's eligibility to participate. In the event any portion of this promotion is compromised by virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, hackers or other causes beyond the control of SCA or WRBZ/WDNC, which, in the sole opinion of SCA, corrupts, or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the game, SCA reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend or terminate all or part of the promotion. SCA Promotions and any affiliated companies are not responsible for any entry, which is generated by computer hardware or software, malfunction, error or failure, or is tampered with or subject to any non-authorized human intervention.
    • This is a contingent prize promotion. Prize(s), if any, will only be awarded upon winner validation and verification by SCA. Taxes, fees or other charges, if any, are the sole responsibility of winner(s). Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded.
    • Contests are void where prohibited. Copies of the written contest rules are available during regular business hours at the main studio of WRBZ-AM/WDNC-AM, 4601 Six Forks Road Suite 520, Raleigh, NC 27609.
